Some products are invented. This one was discovered.
Our founder Christopher Garden didn't set out to build a wellness company. He got curious. One thing led to another like breadcrumbs. Eventually curiosity did what curiosity does and led to something unexpected.
For most of his life, Christopher lived with severe ADHD. Not the kind that gets romanticized on the internet, but the kind that wages a daily war against your own potential. The kind where you can see further than anyone in the room and still not be able to cross the finish line. Where brilliance and chaos share the same nervous system, and nobody ever hands you the manual.
He spent years trying everything. The planners. The apps. The medication. The breathwork and meditation. The willpower. More willpower. None of it addressed what was actually misfiring, not his character, not his discipline, but his hardware.
Then one morning, hungover, with a big meeting in two hours, he put his face in cold water.
Something happened that he couldn't explain. And couldn't stop thinking about.
The Rabbit Hole
What followed was eighteen months of obsession (the ADHD kind) which meant it consumed everything. Christopher read every study on the vagus nerve, the mammalian dive reflex, the trigeminal-vagal pathway. He learned that cold water on the face triggers the most powerful parasympathetic reset in the human body. That it fires a reflex 200 million years older than language. That Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has prescribed it as a clinical crisis intervention since the 1990s.
And the more he experimented, the more he began noticing that conscious breath seemed to change the experience. The cold was merely the door. The breath was the key. That the science wasn't new, it was just waiting for someone to connect the dots and build around it.
Nobody had.
Every treatment on the market went after the symptoms. Christopher went after the source.
The Friction Problem
He started simple like anyone else, and immediately discovered the real obstacle wasn't the cold, it was everything around the cold. The size. The angle. The panic. The temperature guesswork. The mess. The discomfort that had nothing to do with the practice and everything to do with the execution.
So he started removing the friction and optimizing one piece at a time. The angle. The breathing. The temperature. The duration. The experience. Each piece he removed revealed something deeper, not just a better product, but a locked door he hadn't known existed. And on the other side of that door was the body's own intelligence. A system so sophisticated, so self-sufficient, that no pharmaceutical or app or gadget had ever come close to touching it.
He picked every tumbler in the lock.
Removing friction so the ritual can remove the friction between people and who they've always been. What He Built While Building It
Something unexpected happened while we were building PLUNJI.
We thought we were designing a ritual. What emerged was a different way of paying attention.
The product became more than the object itself. It became a daily reminder to notice what had always been there.
And then something he hadn't planned on... he started finishing things. A patent-pending product. A brand. A community. An entire company, designed, built, and launched solo, in 18 months. Not because he pushed harder. Because the system underneath finally had what it needed.
A founder with severe ADHD, who the world had quietly written off as someone who would always almost make it, became someone who did.
The product didn't just survive my process. It powered it.
— ChristopherPlunji is not a wellness trend. It is not a cold plunge with better branding. It is not another product asking for space on your shelf.
It is a precision instrument, built from the mechanism up, for the one practice that goes straight to the source of everything: your nervous system.
The most elegant face plunge system ever created. Achieved through purely natural means. A ritual earning its place in your life.
No gadgets. No gimmicks. Just water, breath, and 200 million years of mammalian biology, finally given the instrument it deserved.
The person who has tried everything and still doesn't feel like themselves.
The high-performer who suspects their ceiling is lower than it should be.
The parent who needs to show up, every day, as the regulated one in the room.
Anyone who has ever felt brilliant and overwhelmed at the same time and wondered if there was a way to be both without the cost.
Christopher built Plunji for all of them. Because he was all of them.
And then he wasn't. One plunge at a time.
