Safety

A note on cold water facial immersion.

Before You Plunge

  • Plunge seated, with the Basin on a stable surface at a comfortable height.
  • Water. Any water you'd bathe in. We recommend filtered. Fresh every time, never a bowl left standing.
  • Eyes. Closed. Every time. Remove contact lenses first.
  • Nose. Wear the nose clip. It's built to keep water out.
  • Breath. Through the Breath Stem. Mouth only. Breathe normally. No breath-holding, and no breathing exercises beforehand.
  • Temperature. 45 to 60°F. Fifty is the sweet spot. Use the Gauge. Colder is not better.
  • Time. Thirty seconds to five minutes. Two minutes is the sweet spot.
  • Come up any time. Lift your face out the moment anything feels off: lightheaded, chest discomfort, numbness, pain. Nothing here needs finishing.

Talk to your doctor first if you have a heart or blood pressure condition, are pregnant, have had a recent facial procedure or have broken skin on your face, have a history of fainting or seizures, or react to cold. Not for use after alcohol or sedatives.

Under 18, plunge with a parent.

Leave It As You Found It

Mild soap and water to clean the Breath Stem, nose clip and the Basin after every plunge. The sponge is in the box for exactly this. Dry them, set them out, ready for tomorrow. Takes one minute to clean.

Never leave a full vessel near small children.
